Please no riots but I love Tyler Perry movies.
Not because they are critically acclaimed but just because I do. I mean where in the world are you gonna see Cicely Tyson in a movie.(And not be a maid).
Word on the street is that Perry is producing Ntozake Shange's For Colored Girls Who Have Committed Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enough.
The black establishment is livid. . . well at least on Twitter. LOL
I love Tyler Perry movies because he showcases black talent as STARS not the best friend, not the maid, not the sassy sidekick or magic negro.
Like all things black girls like, I will support it.

Love Tyler Perry too! Wonder why so many Black people purport to hate him. You can read today's Root.com article about him being a coon to see the disdain.

I think it's basic, run-o-the-mill jealousy. I mean, why not make your own movies, if you have the perfect formula? He is a major success, some people can handle that. I love it!

I beg to differ... When it comes to the man I respect his struggles, and diligence to changing his life, and the achievement of success. I also love the fact that he casts black actors and actresses who are usually ignored by mainstream hollywood.. Despite his personal success and contributions to the black community ,his movies and tv series are absolutely horrendous. He's openly admitted to creating his storylines based on an urban fantasy, and black fairy tale. I honestly just can't get into them. I require a little more than conventional story lines, two dimensional characters, bad writing, and hokey messages that seem contrived.
Not to mention the blatant stereotypes that reinforce generalizations that exist within the black community.
Like many other blacks who'd agree, you can separate the man from the filmmaker. It's reasonable to say that his success does not reflect his quality of work.

Thanks Tiffany for visiting the site. I welcome all opinions here. I really liked I Can Do Bad All By Myself or maybe it was just Adam Rodriguez, lol.
